Immigration laws made for bosses

Issue No. 2156

Migrant workers are particularly vulnerable, as fear of deportation often means they put up with worse pay and conditions.

Bosses can do very well out of this.

As John McDonnell MP put it, “The message is that they are happy to employ migrant labour on poverty wages but if you complain they will send you back home.”

Immigration laws give more power to bosses. They can contact immigration officials at any point to try and get workers they no longer want removed.
