Some 50,000 Tamils and their supporters marched through central London last Saturday.

At the head of the march was a representation of a detention camp to inform the public that, though Sri Lanka is dropping out of the news, the Sri Lankan government is still holding hundreds of thousands of Tamils in concentration camps.

Though the “illegal” Tamil protest outside parliament has drawn to a close after 73 days, activists are determined that the plight of Sri Lanka’s Tamils will not be forgotten.

Marchers waved black flags to commemorate the estimated 20,000 killed this year alone. Speakers called for the British government to stop supplying arms to Sri Lanka.
