Open letter responses: facing the Nazis

Issue No. 2160

Dealing with the Nazis in the BNP

It’s time for the left to “get its act together” and stop the petty bickering which has bedevilled us for far too long.

The election of members of the Nazi British National Party (BNP) to the European parliament sent out a shockwave.

It highlights the importance of presenting a real alternative to the “mainstream” parties, who have all been implicated in the corruption currently engulfing Westminster.

For the first time in my life, I am ashamed to be a British citizen.

As both a black person and a socialist, I do not know how to explain to my two year old daughter that there are people representing Britain in the European parliament who hate us and want to kick us out of our country.

During the recent European elections I received an election leaflet from the Nazi BNP.

How dare these scum bring their racist claptrap into my home.

However, there is a silver lining. My daughter tore it up. She knows what to do with the racist filth, and so should the rest of us. Put the BNP in the political dustbin!

Eyes on the prize

I just wanted to say well done. I know it will be very, very difficult to work towards the objective you have set, but such an initiative needs to be made.

We all recognise the problems experienced in the recent history of united activity.

However, as they say, we must keep our eyes on the prize, and during this moment the alternatives to not building some form of left unity are pretty dire.
