No Trident replacement

Opposition to spending billions of pounds to replace the Trident nuclear weapons system is growing across Britiain.

A poll this week reveals that the percentage of voters who want the scheme to be scrapped has reached 54 percent – a rise of 15 percent. Support for the scheme has fallen to 42 percent.

A world ravaged by war has nothing to offer working class people. The recession and the spending cuts supported by Gordon Brown’s government are hitting people hard.

The government must stop spending money on arms and use it on social provision, education and public services instead.
