Defend the Vestas occupation on Wednesday at the court

by Tom Walker
Issue No. 2161

The occupation at the Vestas wind turbine factory in Newport, Isle of Wight is still solid as it nears the end of its first week.

The “solidarity camp” outside the factory is growing all the time, and public support across the island – and the world – is building.

The focus for workers and activists over the next few days will be on making the demonstration outside the court case on Wednesday as big as possible.

Today, supporters have fanned out across the island with thousands of leaflets, to cover Newport, Ryde, Cowes and other large towns. They are hoping other groups of workers will come out to support the occupation on the court day.

Anyone who can get to the Isle of Wight should join the campaign, join the picket and come to this key protest.

Send messages of support and do a collection for the occupiers at your workplace. Send donations to Ryde and East Wight Trades Union Council, 22 Church Lane, Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 2NB. Email messages to savevestas@gmail.com

Demonstrate outside Newport County Court, 9.30am Wednesday 29 July.

Join the camp and picket outside the factory any time – St Cross Industrial Estate, Monks Brook, Newport, Isle of Wight. Rally outside the factory at 6pm every day.
