Defend Unison socialists against attack

Issue No. 2162

The Unison union has outrageously banned four Socialist Party members from holding office for three years.

The punishment comes after a union court found them guilty of producing a leaflet at the 2007 Unison conference which the union’s leaders claim could be seen as racially offensive by some members.

There was nothing racist in the leaflet and the punishment is another sign of Unison’s attempt to clampdown on the left in the union.

Glenn Kelly, Brian Debus, Suzanne Muna and Onay Kasab are to appeal against the decision.
