Strike at Penske called off after new offer

Issue No. 2162

More than 100 contract workers employed by Penske Logistics working at the Ford complex in Southampton called off a planned strike for Wednesday of last week after reaching an agreement with management.

While full details of the offer are confidential, it is believed that workers won a significant pay rise as well as winning improvements in working conditions.

Nearly 70 percent of Unite union members voted to accept the offer.

Workers voted to strike after their bosses cut shift payments and tried to delay pay talks for six months.
