Socialist Worker

Subterrania photographs by Fiona Crisp

Issue No. 2163

This new exhibition showcases Crisp’s large-scale photos of early Christian catacombs, a Second World War underground hospital in Guernsey and a lead mining museum at Killope, County Durham.

The atmospheric and dominating prints are of underground worlds that have now become tourist sites. The emptiness and solitude of the images is awe-inspiring.
