Eviction notice served: Protest to defend the Vestas occupation

by Siân Ruddick
Issue No. 2163

Bailiffs acting on behalf of the Vestas management have served workers occupying the company’s plant in the Isle of Wight with papers of eviction, which will come into force at 12noon tomorrow.

This means that bailiffs and police can act on the notice from noon onwards.

The move comes after management won the case of injunction against the workers on Tuesday of this week, after a previous application for eviction failed the Wednesday before.

A rally is to take place outside the plant tomorrow at noon for people to show support for the occupation

A solidarity demonstration will also be held in St Thomas Square in Newport on Saturday. A national day of action for Vestas is to take place on Wednesday of next week.

Activists and trade unionists must do all they can to show solidarity with the workers.
