LABOUR-RUN local authorities across Scotland have launched a despicable campaign in an effort to defeat the nursery nurses' pay strikes.
The councils are trying to get nursery nurses to sign local deals. They hope in doing this, and threatening that this is the workers' 'last chance' to take the money, that the fight for a national deal will be broken.
But despite these manoeuvres selective strikes went ahead for five days this week in Angus, Dumfries & Galloway, Dundee, East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Lothian, East Renfrewshire, Falkirk, Glasgow City, North Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, Stirling and West Dunbartonshire.
This follows strikes in several areas last week. It is clear that Labour councillors think they can defeat the nursery nurses. They must be proved wrong. That means a serious escalation in the action.
