Vote left in UCU elections

Issue No. 2165

Voting in by-elections for the UCU lecturers’ union national executive committee begins this week.

Supporters of the UCU Left argue there is an urgent need to build a co-ordinated response to attacks on education.

Job cuts and course closures have swept through the system and look set to intensify.

Campaigns against cuts at Doncaster College and Liverpool University have forced management to retreat. Workers at Tower Hamlets College and London Metropolitan University have struck against at cuts.

UCU Left is supporting the following candidates in the elections:

Dave Gibson and Vanessa Maughan for FE reps for the north east region, Jenny Sutton for representative of women members from FE, Anne-Marie Greene for representative of women members from HE and Veronica Killen for UK-elected member from HE.

Voting closes on Tuesday 22 September.
