Teachers in the NUT and ATL unions in Tamworth, Staffordshire, are set to strike on Wednesday 16 September in defence of democratically accountable community education.
The local council plans to introduce a privately-sponsored sixth form centre that would replace all sixth form provision in the existing schools.
It would also mean that at least one community high school in the town would close.
The strike will affect a number of schools in the borough. Teachers have already taken several days of strike action against the plans across five different schools.
The teachers, along with activists in the Hands off Tamworth Schools campaign, will also travel to London on the day of the strike to protest at Landau Forte Academy Trust, which is the proposed sponsor of the private sixth form.
