One hour refuse strikes in Liverpool

Issue No. 2167

About 600 refuse workers at Enterprise Liverpool are staging a series of daily one-hour daily strikes over pay and conditions.

The workers in the GMB union point out that the firms has ripped up an earlier agreement that led to strikes being called off in August.

GMB organiser Dave Hulse said, “After initially agreeing to consolidate bonus into salary, which led to the suspension of the industrial action, Enterprise has reneged on the agreement.

“Our action – consisting of an overtime ban, work to rule and selective strike action – will be continuous and will affect refuse collection, street cleaning, grounds maintenance, highways maintenance and street lighting maintenance.”
