A welcome revival for DH Lawrence’s play, which is a family portrait set in a Midlands mining community at the beginning of the 20th century.

The miners are on strike and money is tight. The drama focuses on miner Luther and his newly-wed wife Minnie.

Tensions arise between the young bride and Luther’s domineering mother – a woman who has a very different and far more traditional outlook.

And an unexpected revelation shakes the whole family.
