Protests continue at 2 Sisters as bosses discipline workers

Issue No. 2170

More protests have been held at Smethwick chicken factory 2 Sisters, as 55 workers face disciplinary action over unofficial walkouts.

The company suspended the workers from the 2 Sisters Food Group plant earlier this month following an unofficial strike, after a senior shop steward was suspended.

Workers had held a sit-in in the factory canteen.

Talks between the union and 2 Sisters have been going on for the last ten days in a bid to thrash out a deal to allow the suspended employees to return.

But the company’s decision to go ahead with disciplinary proceedings has angered the union, which accused it of not observing Acas guidelines.
