The people of Ireland were to vote again on the European Union’s neoliberal Lisbon Treaty on Friday of this week – despite voters rejecting it last year.
The entire political establishment, except Sinn Fein, and many trade unions back a yes vote.
They hope people will vote yes out of fear of losing the “protection” of the EU during the recession.
But there is a wave of rebellion against the treaty and other issues.
Last week striking workers from Dublin Port and Coca Cola joined others to protest against the “Nama” bank bailout.
