Stagecoach bus drivers vote on pay offer

by Kate Hunter
Issue No. 2174

Bus drivers at Stagecoach’s Kettering depot are balloting this week on a new pay offer, after strike action pushed management into offering an increased hourly rate.

The drivers, who are members of the Unite union, are currently on just £9 an hour.

They took strike action earlier this month after rejecting an offer of £9.17.

Bosses have now offered £9.23 an hour plus a lump sum of £115.

Some drivers are unhappy with the new deal as it would only be backdated to the start of October.

The previous offer would have been backdated to April. The result of the ballot is expected on Wednesday of this week.
