Protesters against Royal Mail’s attempt to set up a mass scabbing operation found more than they bargained for when they leafleted casual workers at the company’s “outhouse” operation in Dartford, Kent, on Wednesday of last week.
A bag of discarded material was discovered among rubbish outside. It contained tags from mail bags, clearly showing that work is being diverted to the centre from mail centres across south east England.
This shows the operation is much more than an attempt to handle extra Christmas mail – it’s about starving other offices of work and cutting their overtime.
Sheepish managers were aghast as it became clear that protesters had also found undelivered post that had been thrown away.
Now the campaign group Right To Work, which initiated last week’s protest, is backing similar action at Royal Mail’s outhouses in Bristol and Bathgate.
