Socialist Worker

Only a good deal will be enough

Issue No. 2176

Rumours of a deal to end the postal workers’ strike abounded as Socialist Worker went to press, while talks between the union and Royal Mail continued.

Any offer from the company should be judged against the key issues behind the strike.

There must be no “executive action” changes imposed without union agreement, an end to job losses and no more management bullying or victimisations.

If a settlement that does not measure up in these key areas is reached, the company will return to the attack in the new year when the volume of work will be much lower and the union in a far weaker position.
