Strike at Glyndwr University to support sacked lecturer

Issue No. 2177

Lecturers at Glyndwr University in Wrexham have voted to strike in support of a sacked lecturer.

Workers say that Hamish Murphy, a UCU union branch chair, was dismissed after exposing alleged bullying by management. He was sacked on 7 October.

The UCU had previously announced plans to ballot members in June 2008 over alleged bullying. At least eight workers had complained of bullying.
