Protesters challenge BNP conference

by Paul Jenkins
Issue No. 2178

Fifty people protested at the British National Party’s national conference in Wigan last Saturday.

With less than 24 hours’ notice of the conference’s venue, Unite Against Fascism called for a protest outside.

Trade unionists, councillors and anti-fascists joined the demonstration outside the run-down Body Image Fitness Centre in an industrial estate.

The protest has boosted support for Wigan Unite Against Fascism.
