Lively protest against east London NHS cuts

Issue No. 2180

Some 30 health workers and campaigners protested on Thursday of last week against privatisation and cuts in east London NHS.

The lively protest saw nurses come together with cleaners, caterers and other workers, as well as a patients’ group.

Yonatan Mosquera of East London Mental Health Unison told Socialist

Worker, “The protest really lifted people’s spirits. It’s made us feel more confident.

“People were chanting ‘we won’t pay for their crisis’ and ‘privatisation no way’.

“The bosses are trying to make it look like they’re not making cuts, but they are. They say they’re opening a new ward – but they’re just re-opening one they closed six weeks ago!

“We’re getting an official answer to our demands from the NHS Trust on Wednesday.”
