Alan Docherty targeted by Unison leadership

Issue No. 2180

Alan Docherty, branch secretary of Darlington local government Unison, is the latest target of the union leadership’s attacks on left activists.

In a statement Alan said, “I face unspecified Rule I disciplinary charges at a hearing convened by the NEC starting on 7 January.

“I have no faith in the union’s disciplinary procedure being fair, as shown by its recent decisions. I know that unless there is genuine objection from lay activists, my days as a Unison activist are numbered.'
