Defend Assed Baig from attacks

Issue No. 2180

A number of officers from the National Union of Students have launched a statement in defence of anti-Nazi activist and Staffordshire University union president Assed Baig.

There is an online campaign to remove Assed from office. This is the latest in a series of attacks against him since he was elected as president of the student union last year.

Many students believe Assed is being targeted because of his outspoken opposition to the British National Party (BNP), which has described the city of Stoke-on-Trent, where the university is based, as its “jewel in the crown”.
