The Irish government’s attempts to push though devastating cuts received a helping hand last week.
The Irish Congress of Trade Unions called off a public sector general strike at the eleventh hour, claiming it had a deal.
The union leaders were willing to do anything in order to remain in “partnership” with the government and bosses.
However, the government threw out the deal and is pushing ahead with cuts.
But the bubbling rage against the attacks can be seen in the fact that even the Gardai, the Irish police, have started an illegal strike ballot.
And trade unionists and campaigners were set to protest at the Irish parliament this week.
