Refuse lorry drivers in Chester employed by the private contractor FOCSA struck for a day against a derisory 1 percent pay offer at the end of December.
FOCSA has now withdrawn the offer and has so far made no move to talk to the lorry drivers’ union, the GMB.
The drivers are angry that they are paid £2.75 an hour less than drivers in Ellesmere Port and Liverpool.
Shop steward Billy Connolly said, “We only want harmonisation of pay and conditions.”
