There were protests around the world last month on the anniversary of Israel’s invasion of Gaza.

About 500 people came to an angry protest outside the Israeli embassy in London on Sunday 27 December, marking a year since the Israelis killed around 1,500 people.

There were also protests in Glasgow and Manchester.

Viva Palestina convoy

The Gaza-bound Viva Palestina convoy is now on route via Syria after the Egyptian government blocked it in Jordan.

The convoy is carrying humanitarian aid for Palestinians.

Initially Egypt would not allow the convoy to travel across the Red Sea, but after reaching a deal with the Egyptian government, the convoy was allowed to arrive by boat.

Gaza freedom march

Hundreds of activists are still trying to cross the border from Egypt to the Gaza Strip.

Over 1,000 activists from 42 countries are taking part in the Gaza freedom march, attempting to march from Cairo to Gaza.

But the Egyptian state has refused to let them cross and has met the marchers with violence. This has sparked solidarity actions by Egyptian activists.
