Andy Serkis as Ian Dury

Andy Serkis as Ian Dury

This biopic of Blockheads rocker Ian Dury charts his rise to fame on the cusp of New Wave.

Actor Andy Serkis, who plays Dury here, spent three years getting into character, going as far as wearing a leg brace for months to understand Dury’s disability.

Now he has the character so dead-on that he has started singing with Dury’s old band.

Named after Dury’s 1977 hit, the film rejects the conventional plodding biopic style, instead telling the tale through fantastical myth-making.
