Workers vote for strikes to defend sacked colleagues

Issue No. 2185

Tube drivers on the Bakerloo Line have voted for strike action in support of two sacked colleagues.

RMT members at the Elephant & Castle and Queens Park depots voted overwhelmingly to take action over the dismissal of Joel Miah and F Chambers.

The vote comes after a year in which London Underground management have increasingly used disciplinary measures to push through job cuts.

Strikes could now bring the Bakerloo Line to a halt, especially if members of the Aslef train drivers’ union refuse to cross picket lines, as they did during a similar dispute on the Victoria Line last year.
