BA workers set for fresh strike ballot

The Unite union will reballot BA cabin crew workers for strike action against job cuts and attacks on their conditions.

Workers voted overwhelmingly to strike last month—but BA bosses used the courts to stop action.

“The court ruling was disgraceful—an affront to democracy,” said one BA worker at a mass meeting on Monday of this week.

“It would be nice to say we lived in a democracy, but obviously we don’t,” added another.

Many workers showed their feelings by coming to the meeting dressed in T-shirts reading, “United we stand”.

One Heathrow worker told Socialist Worker, “People are feeling very angry and militant. I hope we’ll get a great turnout and support for the ballot.”

BA bosses have already imposed job cuts on cabin crews—generating bitter anger among workers. The fresh ballot begins on Monday.
