Unison attacks NEC member

Issue No. 2186

Unison union national executive member John McDermott is facing a union disciplinary hearing on 16 and 17 February in Leeds.

It will hear five charges against John because of his attempt to take up the NEC seat for which he received the greatest vote last year.

John has advised Unison he is not available because of work and his representative is on holiday. Dates have been offered in March but have been ignored.

It appears to John and his supporters that the main issue is whether or not he was eligible to attend an NEC meeting.

This will be decided by the Certification Officer on 23 March.
