Diane Mitchell died on 14 January.

Comrades who knew the Penge branch of the Socialist Workers Party will remember her.

She also did a lot of work for the Anti Nazi League in the 1990s, starting with the march in 1993 on the British National Party (BNP) bunker at Welling.

She became more involved with socialism and socialist issues while studying as a mature student at South Bank Polytechnic – as it then was – and went on to teach primary education.

Right up to the end of her life her thoughts were with others.

She was greatly concerned by the earthquake in Haiti which happened two days before she died.

She leaves myself, our son and granddaughter.
