Unite Against Fascism and Scotland United are calling for a protest to stop the Scottish Defence League marching in Edinburgh this Saturday 20 February.

The counter-protest will assemble at Princess Street bandstand at 11.30am for a rally and march.

A student feeder march from Edinburgh University is assembling at 10am in Bristol Square.

And campaigners have organised a mass leafleting and street meeting from 10am. Meet at the foot of the Mound precinct.

Anti-fascistsare planning a counter-protest against the English Defence League (EDL) when they come to Dudley on Sunday 4 April.

Tony Barnsley, a local trade unionist, said, “I invite everyone to Dudley on the day to help us stop the EDL running riot.

“They are opposing the building of a new mosque in the area. There have been threats to burn it down.

“I want people to help us drive these animals back where they belong – Dudley Zoo.”

Barred from Wetherspoons

The English Defence League has been barred from Wetherspoons pubs after the firm was bombarded with complaints. The EDL and its counterparts had used the pubs as meeting points for demonstrations.

“Going forwards it will be our preference to close the pub rather than inadvertently becoming host to such an event,” said a Wetherspoons spokesperson.
