Hospital activists get their bus back

Issue No. 2190

Health campaigners in Surrey and Sussex are celebrating two victories.

After a long campaign a hospital shuttle bus service that was stopped three years ago is to be reinstated.

Ron Smith, secretary of the Save Our Shuttle campaign, said, “We did a petition, with the support of the shop stewards’ committee at East Surrey Hospital.

“I expected we’d get about 200 signatures – but we got a total of 7,483.”

In addition Surrey & Sussex NHS Hospital Trust has been forced to drop plans to charge staff for parking.
