Police attack Sussex University demonstration

Police attacked a peaceful demonstration against cuts at Sussex University today, Students report there were 16 police vans on campus as students demonstrated in solidarity with a group who were already in occupation. Police struck as demonstrators attempted to enter the building and join the occupation.

They used dogs and batons against the students. Some protesters have sustained injuries from batons, Three students were arrested and are still being held as of Wednesday evening.

Students were protesting against cuts at the university that will mean 115 job loses and the slashing of student services.
