Students are leafleting campuses across London this morning to build the protest against the racist English Defence League (EDL) who are marching on parliament today.
'We want to stop the EDL march', said Marcos, a King's university student.
'We want to show our very vocal opposition to what the EDL and BNP stand for. They want to run riot through Whitechapel and Finsbury Park, like they did in Luton and Stoke. We can't let that happen.'
The EDL are coming to London to show support for racist far right Dutch politician Geert Wilders.
Wilders recent calls for a 'head rag tax' on Muslim women and his likening of the Koran to Mein Kampf has sparked outrage.
Unite Against Fascism (UAF) has called a counter-protest today at 11am outside the Houses of Parliament.
'We are asking anyone who can to come and show the EDL that we are very happy with London and proud of our multicultural city,' Weyman Bennett from UAF told Socialist Worker. 'We don't need Geert Wilders or the thugs of the EDL trying to cause violence and division.'
