Unison higher education conference votes for 4 percent pay claim

The Unison union’s Higher Education conference voted unanimously for a 4 percent pay claim.

The union leadership told delegates to only vote for this if they were willing to prepare and argue for strike action. But while there are concerns about jobs with the recent funding cuts, no jobs have been saved by not having a pay rise. The conference also called for unity with students against the cuts.
