Dawn raids by Unison on branch offices as four suspended

Issue No. 2192

Unison officials raided the offices of the union’s Bromley, Greenwich and Housing Association branches without notice last Friday morning.

Officials attempted to confiscate computer hard drives and resources, including documents relating to on-going personal cases.

The raids are part of the witch-hunt against Socialist Party members Glenn Kelly, Suzanne Muna, Onay Kasab and Brian Debus.

They have all been banned from holding any office in Unison for one to three years following their mitigation hearings.

Witch-hunts in Unison are painfully familiar to activists.

The take-over of branches by the national apparatus has become common practice, leading to demoralisation of activists.
