The PCS union contact centre campaign in the Department for Work and Pensions is progressing, but the fight continues.
Workers in 14 Benefit Delivery Centres were due to be compulsorily transferred into the Contact Centre Directorate (CCD).
But management has agreed staff can choose whether to transfer into the CCD or move to a post elsewhere. There will be a six-month review so that staff who have transferred into the CCD will have an opportunity to move. No administrative assistants will be made “surplus” as a result of changes.
These improvements are a result of members’ determination to fight, but they are not enough to end the dispute.
Management has refused to agree to demands for some benefit processing work to be retained in the sites moving into the CCD.
We will keep pressing for mixed sites, important in ensuring a good public service, and will push for improvements to working conditions.
