Celebrating anti-racism at the LMHR festival in Stoke-on-Trent last year

Love Music Hate Racism has announced a carnival weekend on 1–2 May.

This comes after the success of last year’s festival in Stoke‑on‑Trent (pictured) which attracted 20,000 anti-racists.

The Northern Carnival is set for Barnsley, South Yorkshire, on Saturday 1 May from 4pm.

There will also be a gig in London on Sunday 2 May.

The line up at the open air festival in Barnsley includes Chipmunk, UB40, Reverend and the Makers, King Blues, Devlin, Mumzy Stranger, The Rabbits, Gaia and The Delicateers.

It is the biggest event Love Music Hate Racism has hosted in Yorkshire and is being organised in conjunction with Barnsley metropolitan borough council, Burn Down the Disco and BOMfest.

Tickets are £8 and will be available from 1 April from:

  • The Metrodome, 0845 838 4519
  • The Civic, 0845 180 0363, » www.barnsleycivic.co.uk

  • HMV Cheapside, Barnsley
  • Tickets will also be available directly from LMHR groups in other Yorkshire towns.

There will also be 19 fringe gigs from 12 noon to 4pm. For more details visit » www.lovemusichateracism.com
