Solidarity tour with Greek worker

Issue No. 2195

The Right to Work campaign organised a highly successful tour of Britain by a Greek worker last week. It brought together trade unionists and campaigners to discuss resistance to the attacks on working people.

Vasilis Sylaidis spoke to around 100 people in London, 65 in Glasgow and 26 in Dundee. Other speakers at the meetings included a BA striker, PCS strikers, student campaigners, a refugee and other activists.

Vasilis told the London meeting, “We will fight and we will win. We expect international solidarity and when we see others striking we feel part of it ourselves.

“We will build our own defiance across frontiers.”

He also spoke to a PCS union strike demonstration outside parliament and the UCU lecturers’ union Scottish region.
