On the wrong side of the law

Police in Exeter have been playing cops and robbers—with themselves.

A task force of officers broke into homes in order to “raise awareness” of the risk of burglary.

They then gathered valuables, and left them in a room with a note.

Lawyers condemned the campaign, saying the police were guilty of trespass.
