MPs damn plans for fire control

Plans for massive cuts in the number of workers who answer 999 emergency calls were condemned in a damning report last week.

The select committee of MPs into the “Fire Control” project branded it “poorly executed and badly managed”.

The FBU firefighters’ union has been campaigning against the £1 billion plan to centralise and cut emergency service workers since it began.
