British Gas: No more action in the pipeline

Issue No. 2196

The GMB union last week called off planned strike action at British Gas after “positive discussions” with the company.

Union general secretary Paul Kenny said, “The discussions have not been easy, but we do now have a platform on which to build relations.

“It is positive that the company respects the position of GMB.”

Over 8,000 union members voted by 82 percent for strike action against “macho management” and attacks on terms and conditions.

The GMB last month published an internal British Gas email which refered to a 25 percent cut in frontline jobs.
