Fighting health cuts in Camberwell

Issue No. 2197

Activists, staff and service users lobbied to defend a vital alcohol and drug dependency service in south London. The protest at Marina House in Camberwell last Wednesday was small but well received.

Southwark Primary Care Trust is moving the clinic to Blackfriars in the far north of the borough, in what is seen as a cynical move.

It will be two bus rides away, making it harder to gain access. Activists fear this move will lead to a drop in the numbers attending—and then the service will come under threat.
