Food processing workers

Issue No. 1916

WORKERS AT the food preparation firm Uniq, at Annan and Finnarts Bay in the west of Scotland, have won significant gains.

The 1,000 workers, in the TGWU union, have won a 5 percent pay rise and secured a minimum wage of £5 an hour, an increase of 9 percent for some.

The workers had voted heavily for strike action, which was planned to start on Thursday of last week.

This has been suspended pending a ballot of members on the new offer. Uniq is one of the largest private sector employers in the area.
