Scotrail strikers lobby paliament

Issue No. 2198

Striking Scotrail workers lobbied the Scottish parliament on Thursday of last week.

This was part of their four days of strike action over management’s plans to remove guards from trains.

Guards and drivers in the RMT transport union struck from Monday to Wednesday of last week, while sleeper train managers struck from Tuesday to Thursday.

This was their fourth set of strikes against the imposition of driver-only operations on trains on the Airdrie to Bathgate line.

Network Rail track workers who are fighting the job cuts and signallers who are resisting dangerous changes to working practices joined the lobby.

Workers demanded that the Scottish government intervene in both cases to stop the attacks.
