Murky past of BNP candidates

Issue No. 2198

The BNP is headed by convicted Holocaust denier Nick Griffin. But a look at their other candidates shows he is not the party’s only unsavoury character.

David Enderby—standing in Winyates ward, Redditch. Found guilty of three counts of assaulting members of his estranged wife’s family.

Kevin Scott—standing in Gateshead. Convictions for assault and using threatening words and behaviour.

Ian Meller—standing in North West Leicestershire. A former National Front member has a conviction for carrying a plank of wood as a weapon when protesting at a gay rights march.

Adam Walker—Bishop Auckland. Had to resign his teaching post in 2007 after being accused of posting anti-Muslim comments on the web.
