Ten drivers employed on a DHL contract with Howdens Kitchens in Runcorn have been sacked including Unite union branch secretary Kenny Rowe.
“The company has attempted to ride roughshod over the union”, said Kenny. “We’ve had a reasonable relationship with DHL in the past but the new contract with Howdens appears to have changed that approach.”
The company has refused to negotiate with the union, and the 54 drivers still employed are being balloted for strike action in response.
