Vietnam veterans join march against Bush

Issue No. 1917

VETERANS AND serving members of the US armed forces joined this week’s protests at the Republican convention in New York.

Thomas Barton works with GI Special and Traveling Soldier, publications for US troops who oppose the war.

He writes, “Traveling Soldier and its sister publication, GI Special, are reporting more and more frequently on the growing resistance in the armed services to this imperial war for oil and empire.

“In California active duty members of the navy and Marines are coming to anti-war meetings.

“That is something not seen in the Vietnam period for many years after the war began in earnest.

“Respect to Socialist Worker for covering this important dimension of the international movement against the Iraq war.”
